A Brief History of Mine
We've got Me (Big Bad Daddy), my wife (Sugar Momma), our two short things (ThingOne and ThingTwo), a cat (The Beast, WU), and a cast of others. I stay at home and take care of the short things and a host of other domestic necessities. We arrived at this point for a few reasons. After ThingTwo was born we discovered she was blessed with some severe allergies. Things real enough and scary enough to make us stop, evaluate and make some quantum shifts in how our lives were being conducted.
The Big Villains are Dairy and Nuts, and everybody knows how serious nuts are these days. Well Dairy is just as serious, and it's in EVERYTHING. We spent a good three months terrified every time we went anywhere that she would come in contact with something that would render her comatose, again. A lot of careful shopping and some thorough re-working of the product mix and in-house menu and we now lead, fairly regular lives.
This new reality forced us to decide a direction for what was going to happen when my wife's maternity leave ended. The Allergies, and the cost of childcare for two kids made the choice easy. My Wife is smart, much smarter than me, and as such gets paid much more than me. So here I am, now in year two of being a "Homedaddy" and loving every minute of it, mostly.
I'm not sure when exactly I came across Stay At Home Daddy Blogging, but I stumbled on Joeprah, At Home Daddy, and House Dad Chronicles. I laughed, a lot, but also heard some familiar stories and thought I might have something to add. So here it is, My attempt at throwing something out into the collective consciousness. We'll see if anyone cares.
Thanks,
Big Bad Daddy.
